What Are Slot Targets Allowed?
Slot targets allowed counts how many passes were thrown at the receiver a defender was covering when that receiver lined up in the slot. Inside coverage is mostly the nickel's job, and it is a different assignment from playing the boundary -- more traffic, more option routes, less sideline help. This is a volume number, so a defender who plays every snap will sit high on it whether or not he is actually being picked on; pair it with Slot Target Rate Allowed, which controls for how many slot routes he defended.
