What Are Dropbacks?
Dropbacks count every play an NFL quarterback drops back to pass: completed and incomplete passes, interceptions, sacks, and scrambles. That makes it wider than pass attempts alone, since attempts leave out sacks and scrambles that still started as a drop back to throw, and it is the full workload a quarterback's pass protection and pass-rush numbers are measured against.
