What Are Slot Receptions?
Slot receptions count the catches a receiver made on plays where he lined up in the slot. Because slot routes are generally shorter and thrown against softer inside coverage, catch rates from the slot run higher than from the boundary, which is why slot receptions matter most in full-PPR and half-PPR formats where the reception itself scores. Compared against Slot Targets, the gap between the two is a rough read on how catchable a receiver's slot work is. Slot and perimeter do not account for all of a receiver's snaps -- backfield and in-line alignments are excluded from both.
