What Is Left-Aligned Target Rate?

Left-aligned target rate is the percentage of a receiver's routes run on the offense's left that ended with a pass thrown his way. Dividing by routes from that side rather than by snaps or team attempts isolates trust from opportunity: a receiver who is targeted at a high rate on the left is the read there, independent of how often the offense actually lines him up on that side. Read it beside Right-Aligned Target Rate rather than assuming the two should match -- side preference is real for both receivers and the corners who cover them. Left and right are derived from the charted formation order and resolve on about 98% of WR/slot routes; this split is independent of Slot Target Rate on Slot & Perimeter+ and the two do not combine into one number.
