Slot WR targets allowed counts how many passes a defense conceded to wide receivers lined up in the slot. Quarterbacks attack the slot when they do not like what the boundary corners are doing, so a high figure here usually says one of two things: the nickel is the weak point, or the defense plays enough zone that inside throws are simply the easy read. It is a volume number, so pair it with Slot Target Rate Allowed before drawing a conclusion -- a defense that faces a lot of pass attempts will concede slot targets whether or not the slot is a problem. Targets against backfield and in-line alignments are counted on neither this board nor the perimeter one.
