What is 13 Personnel Faced Rate?

13 personnel means one running back, three tight ends and a single receiver. 13 personnel faced rate is the share of a defense's charted scrimmage snaps played against that grouping. It is the heaviest look most offenses carry that still keeps five eligible receivers on the field, and defenses mostly see it in short yardage, near the goal line, and from teams trying to force them into base personnel. Volume is low league-wide, so read the rate alongside the snap count rather than on its own. Rates across the published groupings do not sum to 100%, because snaps in groupings without their own page are counted but not shown.
