What is 13 Personnel Rate?

13 personnel means one running back, three tight ends and a single receiver. 13 personnel rate is the share of a team's charted scrimmage snaps played from that grouping. It is the heaviest look most offenses carry that still keeps five eligible receivers on the field, and it is used in short yardage, near the goal line, and by teams trying to force a defense into base personnel. Volume is low league-wide, so read the rate alongside the snap count rather than on its own. Rates across the published groupings do not sum to 100%, because snaps in groupings without their own page are counted but not shown.
